The Detroit Pistons had tried to trade center Andre Drummond for Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, according to a report from Michael Scotto.

Scotto, who is a senior NBA writer for Basketball Insiders, said earlier this season, the Pistons tried to make the trade, but the Kings denied the offer.

Drummond, 23, is in his fifth season with the Pistons. This year, he is averaging 13.8 rebounds per game and 14.6 points per game.

Late Sunday night, it was reported that the Kings traded Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans. According to The Vertical, the trade will send Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway and the Pelicans' first and second-round pick this year to Sacramento.

The team has until 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23 to make a trade.
