The Pistons are quickly becoming a hot pick to be a surprise team in the Eastern Conference this season as plenty of good news has been coming out of Auburn Hills.
However on Wednesday, it took a sour turn.
Point guard Reggie Jackson says he's been battling left knee tendinitis for some time, and head coach Stan Van Gundy expects him to miss some time.
"The tendinitis is a problem that keeps recurring," Van Gundy said. "He's got several options and, as you would expect, some of the options that are best long term will take longer in terms of time. Some of the other things would get him back quicker but recur quicker. At the most, we would be talking a 6-to-8 week thing."
Backup point guard and recent free agent signee Ish Smith will get plenty of work as the preseason gets underway, but don't count the Pistons out of looking elsewhere to bring in some other help in the backcourt.
