The Tigers says they are getting close to being in contention for a World Series, and that make a move to back that up by hiring AJ Hinch as manager.
Hinch took the Houston Astros from the basement of the baseball world all the way to a World Series in just a few years.
He also never had a record below .500 in five seasons in charge.
