The Red Wings are in dire need of a scoring boost.

They are turning to one of their top prospects, Anthony Mantha. The Red Wings have called up the 21-year-old forward from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Mantha has 21 goals and is third on Grand Rapids with 45 points this season.

Detroit drafted Mantha in the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

He scored 57 goals and registered 120 points in 57 games the following season in the QMJHL, before making the jump to Grand Rapids for the 2015-16 campaign.

His first season in the AHL began with injury. He suffered a fractured right tibia in a Griffins preseason game that affected his play, and kept him off the ice until the middle of November.

The Red Wings play against the Flyers on Tuesday night, in a pivotal battle for an Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Detroit has dropped to 23rd in the league in goals scored per game average.
