Detroit Lions safety Miles Killebrew says he learned how to hit by playing soccer as a child.

The fourth round draft pick from Southern Utah is nicknamed the 'Muscle Hammer' for his hard style of hitting, but he didn't learn how to do that playing football.

Killebrew says the first time he ever had one of his signature hard hits was in soccer. "I learned how to slide tackle, so I was just hitting everybody whether they had the ball of not," says Killebrew. "I actually got red carded my first ouple years in soccer -- I had to have been like four or five years old getting red carded, kicked out of games."

Killewbrew says that was his last year of playing soccer. "That's when my parents moved me to football. Soccer... wrong sport for me," says Killewbrew.
