(WXYZ) -- Calvin Johnson said Sunday he hopes his selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame can help to repair his relationship with the Detroit Lions.
"I know that myself and (Lions principal owner) Sheila Hamp, we've had some great conversations recently," said Johnson. "It's been good to get to know her and really just have those face-to-face conversations, so I think we're moving in the right direction."
Since his retirement in 2016, Johnson has spoken publicly about his contentious relationship with the Lions.
In January, Hamp expressed support for Johnson's Hall of Fame chances and said she hoped the organization would be able to mend its relationship with the former wide receiver. Hamp congratulated Johnson in a statement Saturday night following the announcement of his selection to the Hall of Fame.
