Oct. 14, 2006 is one of the iconic memories in Detroit sports history, and it's been 10 years since Magglio Ordonez sent the Tigers to the World Series.

With Detroit up 3-0 against the Oakland A's in the American League Championship Series, Ordonez stepped to the plate in the 9th inning of game four, with Detroit and Oakland tied 3-3. There were two outs and two men on.

On the second pitch, Ordonez launched the ball into the left field stands, sending the Tigers to the World Series.

"Swing and a fly ball to left field. It's deep! It's way back! The Tigers are going to the World Series!" play-by-play announcer Dan Dickerson yelled into his microphone.

The crowd roared, Placido Polanco rounded third base jumping and waving his arms in the air and Ordonez was mobbed at home plate with his hands in the air. It was 22 years exactly from the time they won the World Series in 1984.
