DETROIT (WXYZ) -- During an autograph signing at Comerica Park on Saturday, Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer joked about the reaction to him being named American League Rookie of the Year.
"I think I found out I've got about 40 new friends I didn't know had my phone number," Fulmer said with a smile. "I'm getting all this support, and I appreciate everything people said about me and the support from the Tigers fans, and all my friends and family back home."
Fulmer said when the announcement was made live on MLB Network, his family was watching in another room, resulting in a delayed reaction that made it hard for him to hear the questions in his earpiece.
