The trophy's normal look features "Paul" wearing a red hat and green pants. The Michigan modifications include a Block M hat and maize pants.
This is the first time since 2012 that Michigan has claimed the trophy. Prior to 2016, Michigan State won seven of the past eight meetings between the two schools.
