Former Pistons guard Richard Hamilton is testing a comeback

If the Pistons are considering retiring Richard Hamilton's jersey number, they may have to wait.

The longtime Detroit guard is considering a comeback to the NBA.

“I’m giving myself 30 days where I am really hitting the gym. I’m working on my game. I’m in the weight room. I’m running my two, three miles a day," he told CBS Sports.

"I’m trying to see if my body can hold up. If my body can hold up after these 30 days, I will be making a comeback.”

Hamilton is 38 years old and hasn't played since 2013, but with the contracts being thrown at players this summer, he's sniffing the money for another potential run.

"If I get the opportunity where I can come in and earn my minutes, I think that I will be able to make an impact on someone's NBA team," Hamilton told CBS.

He said his kids are eight, five, and three years old. He said they're a big reason for the attempted comeback because they didn't get to watch him play.
