The Detroit Red Wings announced they have recalled forward Tomas Jurco from the Grand Rapids Griffins. They have also placed forward Tyler Bertuzzi and defenseman Brendan Smith on seven-day injured reserve.
Jurco, 23, joined the Griffins just last week after missing the first two months of the season due to a back injury. He has one goal and one assist in two games with the Griffins.
Both Bertuzzi and Smith suffered injuries in Saturday's overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Smith hurt his right knee in the second period following a collision with Phillip Danault.
According to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, Smith will be out for at least four weeks but will not need surgery.
Bertuzzi also hurt his leg in the second period when he went hard into the boards after being checked by Alexei Emelin.
Both Smith and Bertuzzi join a growing list of injured Red Wings players which already includes Darren Helm, Andreas Athanasiou, Jimmy Howard and Alexey Marchenko.
