Michigan's bye week comes at an interesting time for their quarterback situation.

Wilton Speight would not have been able to play this week because of the injury he sustained against Purdue, Jim Harbaugh said on Monday.

In his place, John O'Korn stepped up and led four touchdown drives in the win over the Boilermakers.

"I was very pleased, I felt like he was seeing things well during the game," Harbaugh said about O'Korn in his weekly one-on-one conversation with WXYZ.

So with a week away from game action to heal, if and when Speight comes back, Harbaugh will be faced with a decision at quarterback.

Is it Speight's job, or has O'Korn leapfrogged him on the depth chart?

"A couple people have asked that. 'What's the quarterback battle?' That kind of conversation, there won't be one until Wilton is back and healthy and we'll assess it at that time," Harbaugh said.

O'Korn led the Wolverines offense to red zone success. That was certainly a part of the team's early struggles this season.

The transfer from Houston played in the game against Florida, entering into the season opener after Speight through two pick-sixes. Saturday, he played nearly the entire game in relief effort.

"After the game, I left the locker room thinking that (he played well), and then watching the film I thought he was good. His eyes were in the right places, he was seeing the coverage, he was making good decisions, moving the offense, and playing good ball," he added.
