Coaches, athletes excited for competition

Competitive cheer, wresting, ice hockey and boys and girls basketball will be able to begin contact practices and competitions next week.

"I have never been so excited," Comstock Park competitive cheer coach Hayley Strickland said. "Our girls a lot of days look defeated, they have been resilient they are going to be extatic that they can actually stunt because that is the best part, that is what they are excited for, that is what they love to do."

While basketball and hockey teams will be allowed to begin competition on Monday, wrestling and hockey will wait until next Friday.

The Panthers cheerleading team is ready to go.

"Cheer, I love it," Niyah Gill, Comstock Park senior main base said. "Having contact means a lot to me so being able to finish out my senior year being able to play the sports that I love means a lot to me."

Winter contact sports to return next week

After weeks of non-contact practice with no guarantee of competition, the energy was a little higher at practice on Thursday.

"I am really excited because it is my last year," senior base Allan Saincone said. "Excited I can finally do stuff because our sideline season got cut short so it is good to have another season."
