People who live in Plainfield and Algoma Townships got to hear how the settlement between the municipalities and Wolverine World Wide will be implemented for those with the highest amount of PFAS, a potentially dangerous manmade chemical, in their well water.
“This was a public forum to explain to residents in the two townships what the settlement with wolverine and the state is going to mean to their individual properties,” attorney representing the townships Doug Van Essen said.
Van Essen explained to those in the audience that the areas with the highest level of PFAS in the water would be connected to the Plainfield municipal water supply first. Their current settlement accounts for most of those affected by the dangerous water supply in the townships, respectfully.
“This is a great resolution for the area. Which I said is probably 75-80 percent of the contaminated area in these two townships. Obviously there are still people that need attention. And you know hopefully we can move now to those folks.” Van Essen said.
