Thriller! Music of Michael Jackson this weekend

No one did it quite like the “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson! The most awarded recording artist in popular music, Jackson’s songs speak to generations of people all over the world. Unforgettable chart toppers, iconic moves and ground-breaking artistry took him to the next level.  Now the Greater Lansing area gets to experience those thrills with the Lansing Symphony and members of Jeans n’ Classics led by Gavin Hope. For a one-night-only concert, the audience will enjoy hits such as Billie Jean, ABC, Workin’ Day & Night, Thriller and Beat It. Lansing Symphony Orchestra tickets for the concert on Saturday, April 16 at 8 p.m. in Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall, are available for purchase online at www.lansingsymphony.org or by calling the office at 517-487-5001.

Lead vocalist and fan favorite, Gavin Hope, has a diverse career which includes song, stage, TV and film. Hope has shared the stage with greats like Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, James Brown and Deborah Cox, to name a few. Nominated for the Canadian Juno award for both stage and screen, Hope’s theatre highlights include lead roles in the original Canadian companies of RENT, THE LION KING, THE TEMPEST, AS YOU LIKE IT and SMOKEY JOE’S CAFÉ. Hope has earned rave reviews for his most recent studio album, For All We Know, and is a member of the iconic Canadian Pop A Cappella Group, The Nylons. 

For almost 20 years Peter Brennan’s Jeans ‘n Classics has combined rock musicians and headlining stars, who understand orchestra culture, with symphony orchestras throughout the world. This ensemble, with over 45 programs, appeals to an array of audiences, from your avid symphony patron, to the younger crowds as well as your Classic Rock attendee. Performing alongside the entire Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Jeans ‘n Classics brings lead vocalist Gavin Hope to the stage, and Andrea Koziol, Lis Soderberg and Stephanie Martin as backing vocals in addition to a four member rhythm section.
