Meridian Twp organizes voter registration drive

Posted

The Meridian Township Clerk’s Office will hold a voter registration drive this Thursday, April 28th at Okemos High School, beginning at 9:00 am.  This event is a registered Rock the Vote event.

Township Clerk Brett Dreyfus and Assistant, Joan Horvath will be on campus and talking to students, who are eligible to vote. They will have a table set up where they’ll be actively registering students.

“We want people to embrace the power they have to make a difference and the power of the vote, and how by voting we can change our communities,” said Communications Assistant, Coty Kenneth.

The Michigan voter registration form requires basic personal information, a driver’s license or ID number, as well as the last four digits of a social security number. To be eligible, a student must be a Michigan resident, U.S. citizen and the age of 18 or older by Election Day.

Future drives at other high schools are in the works, though dates have not been confirmed.
