Students, staff, and benefactors from Lansing Catholic High School gathered for the official groundbreaking and blessing ceremony for their new athletic stadium on Friday afternoon. Construction began the first week of April with the demolition of a storage building, removing of goal posts, and removing the grass turf.
The stadium project is part of the 5-million dollar Phase I of the Vision 20/20: It’s Time to Bring Them Home Campaign that kicked off earlier this year. The multi-purpose space will include synthetic turf for football, soccer, and lacrosse, an 8-lane track, home and visitor bleachers, a press box, and lights.
While Vision 20/20 is in full swing and the stadium project has begun, money is still being raised to complete the second part of Phase I to build additional bleacher seating, a concession stand/restroom building, storage areas, and the construction of a new baseball field, soccer field, and updating of the current softball field.
The new athletic stadium will open on August 26 for the Lansing Catholic vs. Waverly varsity football game.
