St. Patrick's Day free trolley rides

Posted

Lansing, Mich. — Looking for the luck of the Irish this St. Patrick’s Day? Ride CATA’s Entertainment Express March 17, and you’ll be lucky all night long. As area residents partake in the popular holiday, CATA encourages responsible celebration by providing free rides along the heavily traveled Michigan Avenue/Grand River Avenue corridor.

“Rather than getting behind the wheel and counting on luck this St. Patrick’s Day, catch a free sober ride with CATA,” said Sandy Draggoo, CATA’s CEO/Executive Director. “We want our community to consider CATA its primary mode of transportation, particularly on occasions like St. Patrick’s Day when people may be more inclined than usual to imbibe. By offering this free and safe alternative, we make our trolley service accessible to everyone along the route.”

The Entertainment Express trolleys will start service earlier on Thursday — at 4 p.m. — and run every 15 minutes until 3 a.m. To catch a free sober ride, board a trolley at any of the 23 Entertainment Express bus stops along the route between downtown Lansing and downtown East Lansing. All other CATA routes and services will operate as usual and require the normal fare to ride.
