Lansing, Mich. (March 15, 2016) – Career Quest Learning Center is introducing a new phlebotomy program at its Jackson and Lansing campuses. The program, which begins on April 18, is designed to teach students the skills they’ll need for successful careers as phlebotomy technicians.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics:“Employment of phlebotomists is projected to grow 25 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. Hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers and other locations will need phlebotomists to perform bloodwork.”
“We’re constantly researching career paths that show solid growth for our students and this is one,” said Career Quest Learning Centers President/CEO Robert McCart. “As Americans are growing older and living longer, almost all healthcare fields will grow exponentially, and this is one that we can get people the skills they need and into the job force quickly.”
Students who participate in the three-week, 84-hour Phlebotomy Technician program will learn the following skills:
* Blood collection methods using proper techniques and safety precautions
* Urinalysis, vital signs, anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system
* Infection control, proper patient identification, proper labeling of specimens and quality assurance
* Specimen handling and processing
