LANSING, Mich. — It has been 11 years since American Fifth started coming together and since 2015 they have had their physical location in Downtown Lansing. It is Lansing first distillery and they take pride in using local ingredients to make inventive, hand-crafted spirits.
Their menu includes Signature Cocktails, developed by their awesome staff. These cocktails change on the 5th of each month, so, there is always something new to try!
Some facts about their drinks:
- They unleashed HUE Vodka in November 2014. Using locally grown soft Red Winter Wheat, our HUE Vodka represents the flavor sensations from the best parts of the vodka spectrum.
- Fat Five White Whiskey was released in August of 2015. Welcome to the new age of whiskey! Fat Five is white whiskey made from the finest grain our state has to offer. Locally sourced and bottled for a unique taste that can only be found in Michigan agriculture.
- Their Capital Gin was released in November of 2015. We start with seven botanicals: juniper, ginger, lemon peel, lemon thyme, pink peppercorn, cardamom, and angelica. Each are distilled separately to carefully control the intensity of flavor. We painstakingly blend them to create a unique & remarkable gin profile.
Now, with everything that is happening with the Coronavirus, American Fifth is not only continuing to create their spirits, but they have pivoted to create hand sanitizer that they are giving to local residents, hospitals, first responders and more. Right now, people can order hand-crafted spirits and also pick up hand sanitizer. Their hours now are typically 2-6 but also check their facebook page for updates. If you are planning to pick up spirits it is recommended that you call 517-999-2631 to order ahead so everything can be ready for your pick-up.
Also, because they are working to support residents, emergency and healthcare workers by giving away the hand sanitizer, they have started a GoFundMe campaign to pay for the production of this. Click here to support this effort.
