A young woman who was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis has passed away. Loved ones have taken to social media to remember the life of Kristy Malter.

Malter worked at the Life Time Fitness gym in Rochester Hills. She was a day camp employee.

The Notre Dame Alumni Association posted the following message on their Facebook page in remembrance of the Notre Dame alum.

The health department has notified 219 kids and their families who attended the day camp at Life Time Fitness in Rochester Hills.

They are working on a time frame of notifying people who had close contact with Malter from July 1 to July 11.

The kids are ages 5-12. They are recommending all of these kids and staff go get assessed and go on antibiotics right away.

We're told it's only spread through saliva or nasal secretions. Symptoms can appear anytime up to July 21.

If you have questions or concerns, call the county hotline at 1-800-848-5533.
