Disabled Waverly student gets home makeover

Posted

A Waverly Middle School student now has an easier time getting around his home, thanks to Sparrow Hospital and a team of volunteers.

13-year-old Garrett Mcgowan was the Children's Miracle Network- Miracle Child of 2015.

He suffers from seizures, due to a condition that causes masses on his brain stem.

The teen uses a wheelchair, so union members, and retired veterans, and other volunteers chipped in to build a wheelchair ramp at his home, and fixed the electrical wiring for his medical equipment putting the equipment on a separate circuit.

A plumber also stopped by Garrett's home and installed a more accessible shower and toilet for the teen.

His mom says all of this will make things easier for Garrett.
