Michigan State Police are investigating after two people were shot and killed on I-94 in Detroit early Sunday morning.
According to police, it happened on eastbound I-94 at Livernois around 2:45 a.m.
MSP says that multiple shots were fired over a stretch of eastbound I-94, leading to the area near Livernois where the car stopped.
The victims have been identified as Dominique Brown and Ramell Campbell, also known as Mell. Both were found dead in the car.
The two were well-known rappers in the Detroit area, known as Domo and Mell.
Multiple bullet holes could be seen that riddled the passenger side of the white sedan. It is believed that some 30 shots were fired towards the vehicle. The vehicle could be seen close to the median of the highway but was not wrecked. Investigators found several of the bullet casings on the pavement of the freeway.
Bertha Matthews says her daughter was a great mother to her two children and was trying to live her dream as a rapper.
"You have taken my only daughter away from me and there's nothing in this world that could bring my daughter back. I'm going to keep you in my prayers along with your family because everybody has their day and they will soon get theirs," Matthews says.
The family has set up a GoFundMe to help support Brown's children.
Police continue to investigate the shooting.
