Fitness fads come and go, but now experts are recommending breaking the rules and stepping out on your diet. There are some rules to follow so you cheat right. Lindsey Granger met up with Dr. Anthony Balduzzi to get three ways to master the cheat day.

1.  Plan to Cheat

When you plan out your cheat days then you have something to look forward to. This gives you more control over your diet. A Friday or Saturday is typically the best day to pick.

2.  Turn Off the TV

You don't want to do mindless eating wall your binge-watching your favorite series on Netflix. Save that for your cheat days. Be sure to be present, eat slow and enjoy that cheat meal.

3.  Minimize the Damage

You're going to want to eat a healthy snack 2 to 3 hours before cheating so you don't overdue it.
