March Madness is the most popular time of year to plan vasectomy procedures, according to medical experts.
A vasectomy is the sterilization procedure used to prevent a man from ejaculating sperm.
Why do men prefer to schedule the procedure during the NCAA basketball tournament? Nothing like time off from work to watch basketball all day long.
Men are encouraged to limit activity after the procedure. Overworking could cause bleeding or pain inside the scrotum.
"They'll need to rest for 24 hours after surgery and can probably do light activity after two or three days, but will need to avoid sports, lifting and heavy work for a week or so," according to Detroit Medical Center.
According to the center, there are different methods when performing a vasectomy:
Both the traditional method using a scalpel and the modern “no scalpel vasectomy” method are safe and effective. DMC Urologists prefer the "no scalpel vasectomy" approach since this minimally invasive procedure allows for quick recovery and minimal discomfort.
