A recent graduate of the Utica Academy for International Studies has been accepted into six Ivy League universities, and has been awarded more than $2.2 million on scholarships.
Sam Saba graduated from UAIS as Valedictorian, and has been a student in Utica Community Schools since elementary.
“I try not to seek affirmation from the college application process, but it definitely has been a boost in morale and a testament to the opportunities that are open to all types of students in UCS, regardless of their background,” Saba said.
The scholar was accepted to these six Ivy League schools: Harvard University, Princeton University, Yale University, Brown University, Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
He chose to attend Harvard University on a full-ride scholarship in the fall.
While at Harvard, Saba will pursue Middle Eastern and Global studies. He plans to become an ambassador of work with a nonprofit humanitarian organization in the future.
“The idea of college being so important has always been instilled in me, and I always believed I could do it and should try,” he said. “I never thought I would be here with a smile on my face saying I was going to go to Harvard.”
