The woman accused of taking the most in the Detroit Public Schools bribery and kickback scandal is due in court today.
A DPS vendor, assistant superintendent, and 12 principals are all charged with illegally lining their pockets through bribes and kickbacks.
Today, ex-Assistant Superintendent of Special Education Clara Flowers will face a judge for arraignment. She is accused of stealing more than $300,000.
Former principal Tanya Bowman will also be in court.
We are still waiting to see the vendor accused of being at the middle of the scandal appear in court. Norman Shy is scheduled to appear at a hearing on a possible plea deal scheduled for May 12.
The head of the Education Achievement Authority blew the whistle on the corruption when it discovered one of its former leaders was involved.
If convicted, the accused could face up to 5 years in prison- and will be forced to pay restitution.
