Detroit has gone through many changes over the last few years, and Wayne State University student Michael Tokarz is chronicling the city's change in a new timelapse video he calls "Rebirth - a Timelapse of Detroit."
The video, posted on Feb. 13, combines 5,000 individual photographs, which Tokarz says in the description was cut down from 25,000 frames captured over the past two years.
"Gathering footage for this video showed me some of the incredible things that can be found in Detroit if you're willing to be patient and seek them out," he says in the video's description. "From the views on top of the Penobscot Building, to the quiet serenity of Belle Isle and everything in between, I am proud to call Detroit my home."
According to his website, Tokarz is a freshman at Wayne State studying computer science, where he also publishes photos for the school's paper, The South End.
