Two teens are recovering after falling through the ice in Shelby Township.
It happened on Iroquois Lake in the Arrowhead Subdivision.
The first officer on the scene found a 15-year-old in the water. That officer, a sergeant from the Traffic Services Bureau, grabbed a life ring and walked out on to the ice.
He was able to get close enough to get the teen the ring before falling through the ice himself.
Another officer arrived on scene and the two police officers were able to get the child to safety. They also realized that a second child who had fallen in was able to make his way to shore on his own.
Both teens were taken to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital for treatment.
