"I can't even mourn the loss of my best friend until I know my sisters are safe and out of the woods," says Arielle Guy, whose best friend was driving in the crash that left Guy's younger sisters in critical condition.

Guy's best friend, 22-year-old Shantinique Love, was killed when Sterling Heights Police say she lost control while trying to pass another vehicle and crashed into a minivan that was going the opposite direction on Utica Road near Hayes Wednesday afternoon.

Alyssa McClendon, 14, and her half-sister, Kaylee Guy, 14, were both wearing seatbelts, but still sustained critical injuries in the crash.

Their mothers, along with other relatives and friends, gathered at Children's Hospital in Detroit where both girls remain unconscious and on ventilators.

Yesterday, when no one could reach the girls on their phones, their older sister, Arielle Guy, used the Find Friends app and it pinpointed the location of their phones in the middle of Utica Road and it indicated they were not moving.

Their parents rushed to the scene to find the devastating wreck.

Sterling Heights Police say Love was driving fast and aggressively when she crashed into the other vehicle and lost control. Police say the two people who were in the minivan she struck are listed in stable condition at an area hospital.

Guy thinks her best friend just wasn't that familiar with the area and says she probably didn't realize that she needed to merge.

"I'm waiting for my sisters to wake up and hoping they remember and can tell me what really happened," Guy said.
