A teenage lifeguard, two police officers and a firefighter are being hailed as heroes after they saved a man who was suffering a heart attack at a barber shop last month.

According to the city of Northville, Charles Gevirtz was getting his haircut on July 13 at Scores Haircuts for men when they noticed he was slumped over in the barber chair.

The stylist allegedly asked if anyone knew CPR, and that's when 17-year-old Ryan Figueora of Novi walked in wearing his lifeguard. He immediately begin CPR.

It turned out a man walked past the shop saw what was going on and when in to help. He was a physician and took over CPR.

Within minutes, police arrived on scene and the Northville Fire Department. Officer Ken DeLano used the department's automatic external defibrillator (AED) to shock Gevirtz.

The shock worked and the officer said Gervitz was able to sit up, stand up and sit down on the gurney on his own. Before he was taken to the hospital, the city says he een tipped his hair stylist and said, "Thank you for saving my life."

The city is holding a special recognition ceremony during the Northville City Council meeting on Sept. 18.
