The latest air samples taken near a Howell plating plant showed no detection of the chemical trichloroethylene (TCE), according to Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.
The air samples were taken over a 24-hour period on Dec. 5 and 6. The five samples taken all had the same results.
In late November , concerns grew after it was discovered that the Diamond Chrome Plating processing plant on Michigan Avenue had TCE gas escape into a neighboring residential area. The potentially dangerous chemical was being used to remove grease from metal parts at the plant.

Since the source of the air pollutant was uncovered, the processing plant announced that it will no longer use the chemical TCE at its facility.
