Suspect arrested for allegedly making domestic terrorist threats against Selfridge Air National Guard Base

Michigan State Police have arrested a Harrison Township resident for allegedly making threats to shoot up personnel a the Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

The threat came in on Sunday, Dec. 16, and was sent to uniform personnel at the Michigan State Police Metro North Post, a press release states.

Police were able to identify the suspect as Roque Eugene Diegel, 53, who had previously worked at the base. Officers executed a warrant on the suspect's home and seized over 70 firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Diegel is charged with one count of false report or threat of terrorism, which is a 20-year felony.

The motive behind the threats is unknown.

Diegel will be arraigned in 41B District Court on Tuesday, Dec. 18. He was given a bond.
