Young drivers are more familiar with popular emojis than one symbol on their car's dashboard, according to a study by Goodyear Auto Service and Just Tires.

Millennials and Gen Zers are more than 1.5 times more likely to identify emojis than the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning icon. Forty-nine percent of young drivers and 39 percent of overall drivers were, in fact, not able to identify the warning symbol, the survey revealed.

According to the research, only "88 percent of younger drivers surveyed correctly identified the eye-roll emoji, while 51 percent recognized the TPMS warning symbol."

  • A tire puncture,
  • Leaking tire due to rim damage and
  • Fluctuating temperatures as seasons change.

Improper tire pressure can lead to uneven treadwear, decreased gas mileage and poor handling.

Goodyear surveyed more than 1,000 drivers in the United States.
