A student was hit by a Utica Schools bus shortly after being dropped off in Shelby Township on Friday afternoon.

According to Tim McAvoy, the Director of School and Community Relations for Utica Schools, the incident happened with an elementary school bus while dropping students off after school. McAvoy said the student was "bumped" and the situation is still under investigation.

Shelby Township Police tell 7 Action News they were dispatched to the 46000 block of Cypress Street around 4:25 p.m., and that no one was hurt.

An assistant superintendent, supervisor from the bus company and police all arrived on scene. The school also notified the parents of the situation. The bus driver immediately contacted dispatch, and emergency services were on scene within minutes, McAvoy said.

"The safety and well-being of the student is our first concern," McAvoy said.

This case remains under investigation.
