Florida school shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz appeared in court Friday for hearings on two important issues.
First, the defense withdrew its motion to prevent Cruz from being supervised by a corrections officer he's accused of assaulting.
Cruz's lawyers wanted him to be under the supervision of an officer other than Sgt. Raymond Beltran.
Authorities say Cruz attacked Beltran in November amid increasing friction between the two. He faces several felony charges in that case.
But on Friday, the defense withdrew its motion, meaning Cruz can remain under Beltran's supervision.

Also on Friday, Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer heard motions related to the deadly school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland last February.
Cruz's lawyers say his confidential medical records should not have been shared with a state investigative panel.
They asked Judge Scherer to hold the Broward Sheriff's Office in contempt of court for improperly providing the records to the state commission investigating the shooting. They say access should have been limited to certain authorized investigators and prosecutors in the criminal case.
Scherer did not immediately rule on that motion.
The 20-year-old Cruz could be executed if convicted of killing 17 people at the Parkland high school.
