LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Republicans say Governor Whitmer has not been having meaningful conversations with state lawmakers on how her administration is responding to the coronavirus pandemic.
Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and Speaker of the House Jason Wentworth held a joint press conference Thursday morning. The two both said Governor Whitmer refused to listen to state lawmakers on how Michigan deals with the pandemic.
"Since March 2020, I have had just one offer to have a conversation with the Governor. Several presentations, but only one conversation," said Shirkey.
Both Shirkey and Wentworth say they are ready to work with the Governor on ways to protect the millions of people in Michigan.
