OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. — Mellissa Carone, the woman who appeared next to Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani during a Michigan House Oversight Committeehearing about the Nov. 3 election, is now running for a seat in the Michigan House.

Carone is running as a Republican for the 46th District seat in Oakland County, which has been GOP-held since the early '90s.

She rose to viral prominence after her testimony on ballot counting at the TCF Center in Detroit, where she worked as a contracted employee for Dominion Voting Systems.

During her testimony, Carone made false claims that Detroit voter turnout was more than 100% and accused state Rep. Steve Johnson, R-Wayland, of doing "something crazy" with the voter rolls when he disputed her claims.

On February 3, Carone officially formed a committee for her run at office.
