State lawmakers have approved $600,000 to help demolish an industrial building linked to the green ooze spill on I-696.

Madison Heights City Manager Melissa Marsh says the demolition and clean up of the electroplating services site could cost more than $1 million.

The state shut the company down in 2016 for mismanagement of industrial waste.

Right now, the fate of the building is tied up in litigation in Oakland County Court.
