A photo of a St. Louis-style sliced bagel prompted outrage and debates across the internet.

Alek Krautmann tweeted a picture of the bagels, which were ordered from Panera Bread, on Tuesday and received thousands of responses.

While some people said the slicing was "a travesty," others praised it as a method of portion control.

Panera also joined the debate, saying its team is divided over the controversy.
