Detroiters, be on the lookout for Spam this summer. No, not the electronic kind, more like the iconic canned meat.
That's right, Spam is going on tour. The brand recently announced the Spam Tiny House of Sizzle Tour. Kicking off this summer, a 185-square ft. food truck/tiny house hybrid of sorts will reportedly travel across the country.
The goal: serving up unique Spam dishes created by local chefs. Detroit is one of the vehicle’s 12 stops.
On tap for one of the creative recipes when it gets to the Motor City: Bloody Mary inspired Spam sliders.
The Spam-mobile is expected to make an appearance at the city’s River Days festival June 23-24.
What’s more, Hormel Foods, the company behind Spam, is also partnering with Convoy of Hope on this summertime tour in an effort to raise awareness in the fight against hunger, according to a news release. The Spam brand says it will donate $5 to the humanitarian organization each time someone texts SIZZLE to 50555. The company also plans on matching each donation to Convoy of Hope up to $25,000.
