A major construction project that is expected to cause a headache for drivers in Wayne and Oakland counties has now gotten underway.
Southbound I-275 has closed between I-96/I-696/M-5 interchange and 5 Mile and will have a major impact on the commute.
Construction began this weekend on the Revive I-275 project with crews preparing for the closure by painting new lines, placing signage and moving barrels into place. That caused ramp and lane closures through the weekend.
Now that the full closure is in place, eastbound I-96 traffic will continue onto I-696 to southbound M-10 to southbound M-39, then westbound I-96 and back to I-275.
