What if I told you earning money to lose weight is just a few clicks away?

Kyle Taylor, founder of consumer savings website ThePennyHoarder.com, says there are three smart phone apps out right now that are offering discounts to stores and gift cards just for living a healthier lifestyle.

“Fit Studio is one of the ones we really like,” says Taylor. “It pairs with your FitBit or wearable technology. So, if you walk or run 14 miles in a week, they will give you enough points to redeem for a $5 gift card to either Sears, Kmart or Lands End.”

That’s only about 3,000 steps a day, and Taylor says on this app, you can earn up to $400 a year in gift cards.

PostMates is another, described as an “Uber-like” courier service people can earn money with through car delivers, biking or just walking!

“It’s an independent contractor type of situation, so you get to set your own hours. You also get to decide how much you want to work, and they give you 80 percent of the delivery fee,” says Taylor.

Another weight loss app paying you to shed the pounds is Higi.

Higi uses those blood pressure machines you see at the pharmacy or your local grocery store. You link up to their device and the online reporting service, and they pay you to continue to check your blood pressure and keep it at a healthy level.

Taylor says the one thing to watch out for with these apps is price. All of the ones he is recommending are free. If you see one that isn’t free, he says don’t download it. Those are the ones that raise red flags and really might be too good to be true.
