A House committee will hold a hearing today to debate ending Daylight Saving Time in Michigan.
The one hour loss of sleep from jumping forward in Spring makes us all a less alert. While most of us have gotten used to the February time change, the debate continues in Lansing.
The House Commerce and Trade Committee will hear a bill to get rid of Michigan's twice a year time change. The bill was introduced by Representative Peter Lucido from Shelby Township.
Today a time change expert will testify before the committee talking about the negative impacts. Henry Ford's sleep lab director previously told 7 Action News that includes an increase in heart attacks, suicide and depression and car crashes all from the change our bodies go through trying to adjust our internal clocks.
A similar bill was introduced in March 2015.
Today's hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. There's no word on if the committee will take a vote.There are still a lot steps that need to happen to get this bill passed.
