A Meijer employee found a handgun left in the bathroom at the supermarket Tuesday, according the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.
The employee discovered the gun around 2 p.m. and immediately informed the store director, who called authorities.
Officials say the handgun was legally registered, and police do not believe the weapon was left behind with malicious intent.
Police are currently looking for the owner to speak with them.
