Selfridge Air National Guard Base are letting residents know there could be increased air traffic as the military prepares for Hurricane Michael in the Gulf of Mexico.

According to the air base, the 127th Wing and Selfridge are preparing to receive numerous aircraft, as early as Wednesday evening, as military installations in the Florida panhandle evacuate ahead of Michael's landfall.

"Area residents may notice increased air traffic as those aircraft and crews will take safe refuge at the base," Selfridge said in a release.

It's expected those aircraft could remain at Selfrdige until evacuation orders are lifted.
