The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division is participating in a new initiative to recruit more volunteers for its holiday season.

Metro Detroiters have a chance to win a diamond necklace from Lucido Fine Jewelry every time they volunteer as a red kettle bell ringer.

How it works?

Volunteers will earn one entry into a drawing for every two hour shift they complete. There is no limit to the number of entries one person can earn. At the end of the campaign, the drawing will take place and the lucky winner will claim the necklace, valued at $6,000.

Bell ringer shifts begin Friday, Nov. 9 and runs through Monday, Dec. 24., excluding Thanksgiving and Sundays.

The Salvation Army is hoping to raise money for families during the 2018 holiday season.
