Saginaw Township police officer shot in face during traffic stop; manhunt underway

A manhunt is underway after a Saginaw Township police officer was shot early Tuesday morning.

Police say the shooting occurred around 2 a.m. on Tittabawassee Road, near Bay Road.

The officer was reportedly approaching a vehicle during a traffic stop when he was shot in the face. Police say the suspect then left the scene.

The officer was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police Chief Don Pussehl said this was the first time an officer in his department was shot during a traffic stop.

Michigan State Police is seeking a man in connection with the shooting. The man has been identified as Joshua Michael Rosebush, 29. Anyone who has seen him is asked to call 855-MICHTIP. Police have recovered the 2013 Ford Super Duty but did not find the suspect.

He is considered to be armed and dangerous.
