Fiat Chrysler plans to open a new assembly plant in Detroit, according to The Wall Street Journal, which cites the news was confirmed by "people briefed on the plan."
This comes after news broke in November that General Motors would be shuttering two plants in metro Detroit to cut costs.
A spokeswoman for Chrysler declined to comment.
