A 72-year-old man from Groveland Township was arrested for alleged threats against Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.

Police say the man allegedly made threats on her voicemail and then spoke to a person in her office and made similar threats.

A search warrant was executed at the suspect's address and he was taken into custody.

Weapons and evidence were seized and the suspect was interviewed and lodged at the Oakland County Jail.

Deputies say the man was chared with malicious use of a telecommunication device, a 6-month misdemeanor.
